Hotspot Expectations
These devices are intended for course work. Please note that cellular connections are not the most reliable. If you need to take a test or complete a task that needs constant network connectivity, please use a wired connection, or use a lab computer on campus.
Mobile hotspots are subject to CWI policy IT 000 Information Technology Resource Use.
Checkout period
- Mobile hotspots check out for 4 weeks at a time
- They are eligible for renewals only if there are no other users with a Hold placed and waiting for devices
Using the Mobile Hotspot
- Turn on by holding the Power button for 2 seconds (you will see a "Welcome" message on the screen)
- To wake up the display, press and release the Power button
- To turn off, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Connecting to Wi-Fi
- Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds until the "Welcome" logo is displayed on the screen and the Wi-Fi is on.
- Locate the Device Name (SSID) and Password by checking the sticker on the hot spot, or by scrolling through the menu to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi information
- Next to the Wi-Fi symbol, you will see the Device Name, which should look like "Verizon-RC400L-##". The last 2 digits will be unique to your device.
- The password can be found next to the Lock icon
- Use your personal device (computer, phone, tablet, etc) to search for the wireless network connection with the Wi-Fi's Device name "Verizon-RC400LL-##" and click "Connect"
- Enter the password to connect your personal device to the Hotspot's Wi-Fi.

Late Returns & Replacement
- Long overdue and lost devices will incur a replacement charge of $110
- $80 to replace hotspot, $10 for case, $20 processing fee
