When you book an appointment in Upswing, the appointment booking is sent to the tutor you booked with as a "Request." "Requested" appointments are not certain to happen. When a tutor confirms that they will meet with you, they will mark the appointment as "Approved," which will send an email confirmation to your student email account. When you get an email saying your appointment was "Approved," then you know that your appointment is going to happen.

If you try to request an appointment late at night, or try to book an appointment with little notice, the tutor may not have time to approve your request. We recommend booking with your tutor at least 24 hours in advance of the appointment start time.
